A série Battlestations é conhecida por retratar a Segunda Guerra Mundial de maneira única, apresentando combates envolventes e emocionantes. Midway é um bom exemplo de game que representa essa abordagem peculiar realizada pelos funcionários da Eidos Interactive. Com isso, o surgimento de Pacific foi estritamente necessário para o contentamento dos fãs.
Pacific é um game que possui proporções ainda maiores em comparação com os outros títulos da franquia. A principal proposta é fornecer aos fãs desafios completos, mas mais facilitados em relação ao que ocorreu com Midway.
Há mais de 20 novas unidades, dentre as quais estão presentes unidades aéreas e marítimas. Além disso, o player pode fazer com que suas unidades terrestres possam controlar determinados pontos estratégicos que aparecem nos mapas do game. Comandar essas unidades terrestres diretamente não é possível (pois não há combates realizados em terra firme), mas armar certas baterias de armas, por exemplo, é uma ótima opção.
